Lessons From The Weight Room. Getting My A$$ Kicked At The Gym

How to lose weight naturally is what it’s all about. And getting strong and fit are goals I want to achieve this year. Especially since I am going to be having skin removal surgery in 2017 I want to lose fat and gain muscle to make the whole thing go smoothly. Therefore I go to the gym. I started in early 2016 but even before I started going I loved watching Strength Camp with Elliott Hulse, the Buff Dudes, Mike Rashid, TwinMuscleWorkout and Gabriel Sey, just to name a few channels (and I highly recommend that you watch their channels because they are amazing!) and I even watched bodybuilding documentaries.

However I am a total beginner and strength training is something else. Those guys have been lifting weights for years and lets just say I am nowhere near as strong as they are… yet anyways. But I’ve got to start with the basics and I learned a valuable lesson at the gym about building muscle the right way!

How Your Thinking And Your Attitude Shape Your Reality

What you think you become. Truer words have never been spoken. What you think is so important to building and living the quality life that you want.

If you always think I can’t do this or I am stupid then you are right. You can’t do it and you are stupid. You make that your reality. But if you change your thinking, your will change your reality and you will be able to do anything.

Believe in yourself! Encourage yourself! You have to understand that your thoughts shape your reality and if you think negative then you will get negative, but if you think positive then you will get positive.

If you want the life you have always dreamed of you need to change your thinking because if you stick with your old ways of thinking and your old attitude then you will get what you have always gotten.

Change your thinking and it will change your life. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer said it so well. I highly encourage you to listen to his work and read his books.

Why would you listen to someone who gave up on their dreams tell you that you can’t get your dreams? It’s crazy. Let them hate, You go get your dreams. Make it happen! Go and get a life that most people will only ever dream of. You will go and make it happen!

Run For Your Life From Toxic People!

Toxic People will bring you down and prevent you from living the life you want to live!

Toxic people are not bad people for the most part. They just have this toxic energy around them that completely drains you and can even infect you with it. If you hang around with them a lot you can kiss the good life goodbye!
In fact chances are that you have become a toxic person just by being around them. When you distance yourself from them and start to work on yourself your life will change. Then it becomes even more important that you distance yourself from them because it’s too easy to be brought down by that toxicity and prevent you from attaining your goals and dreams.

When you start to change and to go after your goals and dreams you are not going to be compatible with the people you used to hang around with. They will resent your success and you will start to be uncomfortable around people who are miserable and doing nothing to change that circumstance.

If you want to change your life you need to start hanging around with people who are more in line with your new way of life. You need to be around go getters and not complainers.

What You Can Do Today That Will Change Your Life

How to change your life 101.

You have the life you have today because of how you think and act, it’s that simple. Over the years we have developed habits that become our way of life and some of them are actually preventing us from living the life we truly want to live. And one of those habits is complaining.

Everyone complains, it’s the way we are but some people are addicted to complaining. They are not happy unless they are complaining and actively go out of their way to complain to as many people and as often as they can. If you know people who are like this, or you are like this (I certainly used to be) you need to distance yourself and start to take steps to change that because you really are what you think about.

Don’t Let Anything Stop You From Achieving your Dreams!

Follow your dreams! Live your life! Things can and probably will go wrong and you need to act anyways. If you want to change your life you need to take massive action and not let anything get in your way of achieving your dreams. If you let small things stop you from achieving your dreams you will never get anywhere.

If you listen to the greats like Tony Robbins, Les Brown, Jim Rohn they all tell you the same thing. Get out there and make it happen! Nobody is going to hand you your dreams you need to work for them and if you let little things stop you, you will never get anywhere in life and you will never get to life a great life.

I’ve learned this along my journey and I want you to go out there and live the life you want to live so I am sharing everything I have learned with you.

STOP Complaining! Act or shut up!

Seriously, this is one of the most destructive behaviors that we engage in on a daily basis that guarantees that we live a shitty life. Complaining about things and doing absolutely nothing to change the situation that you are complaining about. What a bloody waste of time!

I used to be a gold metal complainer. The only thing I loved more than complaining was food lol. And when I stopped complaining, my life started to change.

Complaining is toxic. It’s toxic to you and to those around you to whom you complain. Complaining lowers your vibration and it can infect all those to whom you’ve complain to and lower their vibration too. Then they go out and complain and infect others and so forth. It’s a vicious cycle.

If something is worth complaining about, if it bothers you that much then get off your ass and do something about it! If you are complaining and have no intention of taking action to change the situation you are complaining about then shut up and focus your energy elsewhere!

I was informed that the Canadian Government was spending 1.25 million dollars on refurbished computers for new Syrian Immigrants to our country and the person sharing this “news” with me was so upset about it. “How dare the government give computers to these immigrants when some Canadians don’t even have one?” And other such bile.

Personally, I do not have a problem with spending that money on computers for new immigrants. I don’t even have a problem with the fact that Syrian Immigrants have relocated to Canada. Not just because I think that dividing people on this planet based on invisible lines we’ve drawn on a map of the globe is beyond stupid, which I do. And not only because it’s stupid to be upset about immigrants relocating to “our country” and getting “free computers on the tax payer’s dime” when some “actual Canadians” don’t own one (I mean seriously, you are born into this great country with all the bloody resources you could want at your finger tips and you still haven’t managed to make enough of your life to buy a computer? That’s a whole different conversation right there!) But the main reason why I don’t have a problem with it, is because nothing changed in my life when this 1.25 million was spent.

I didn’t check my bank balance and see that money was missing. The RCMP didn’t kick down my door and make off with my Mac Book. And my boss didn’t say “Sorry, but you are not getting paid this week because we are using this money to buy computers” None of that happened. Nothing about that purchase changed my life.

What changed my life is having to listen to someone complain about it, while having absolutely no intention of doing anything about the situation that upset them so much. What is the point of complaining? How did that better your life? How did that change anything?

If you actually cared about what you were complaining about you should get up and take real action. Did women get rights by just sitting around and complaining about the state of things? No. They stood up and took action.

So unless you plan on taking action on what you are complaining about, then don’t waste, your time and energy on pointless toxic complaining, and most certainly don’t waste mine.

And if you feel the need to lower your vibration and live in that negativity then don’t come near me. I’ve got better things to do with my time.

So, if you do one thing today to change your life for the better it’s stop all your complaining. Do so and you will see some amazing changes in your life.

STOP Waiting for People to Change!

One of the best things that I ever did for myself was no longer waiting for people to change. Instead I focused on changing myself and the things that I did not like about myself and my life.

I wanted to go to the gym and lose the last 60 pounds I still had to lose after having lost 170 pounds without a gym membership. I wanted to lose that weight as well as tone up and get some muscles going. I wanted my body to be strong and I wanted to up my health game.

My buddy said he also wanted to re join the gym and so we planned to go together. And I waited… and waited… and waited for him to finally be ready to go but he was never able to give me a straight answer on when we could go to the gym

Finally I just realized “what am I waiting for? I can hit the gym on my own. I’ve never had a work out buddy before anyways” so I grabbed my gym gear, walked the 15 mins to the gym (yes it’s that close) and signed up.

I started working out that very day. I now go to the gym Monday to Friday and lift weights and do a bit of cardio. I’ve lost 15 more pounds since then and I am even closer to my goal.

And my gym buddy? He ended up signing up a few weeks later but he only goes 3 days a week.

I learned a very important lesson from this. Stop waiting for other people! This is your life! If you want something go and get it! If you want to do something go and do it! If you wait for others you may wait FOREVER! Grab life by the balls and get out there and live it! Go for your dreams! Make Goals and achieve them! Do it now!
